Inspired by the shadows she observed on the ground The artist took months experimenting with a method to express objects with two dimensions onto canvas. The subject instead transforms into a re-creation of itself in which the painting becomes the carrier of it's own painterly interpretation, especially when the subject is alive or perishable, such as people or fruits. Alexa Meade's painting style, that is extremely ephemeral nature, is apparent. The only work of Alexa's art that survives is her photograph. Trompe l'oeil is achieved using the two processes of painting and photographing. It creates an unflattened and two-dimensional picture. Meade occasionally integrates painted models into the environment around them. It allows them to be part of the world she has created. By doing so, Meade has removed the borders between photography, painting and performing.
